We Wonder Why.

:Do you read Seth Godin's blog? Maybe you should. His posts are almost always short and very thought provoking. His blog is a great addition to your professional learning.

Here is his posting for today:

This is where leaders often fall short. We do not give the understanding behind what we are doing, where we are going, and why as leaders or as an organization. And we wonder why we cannot change as an organization. We can cast blame on the others all we want, but in the end, it starts with the leadership and how we choose to work with our people.

Think. Achieve. Succeed.

Great recommendation for leadership. Understanding the why brings clarity and often provides motivation for others to follow and contribute to the cause.
I would make another recommendation for those in educational leadership: allow all of the educators involved in the organization to help create the understanding of why. Allow teachers opportunity to be in charge of their own professional development. Allow the classroom teacher to bring to the table his or her understanding of the why and honor their leadership in the classroom. Then maybe our organizations can change more efficiently and effectively.
